Globally, there are now over 4.2 billion active social media users1. This means it is a quick, low-cost, and effective vehicle to reach about half of the world's population1. Digital marketing is arguably the easiest and most effective medium for businesses to reach their potential clients in a fast and inexpensive manner1. According to a study, 90% of B2C companies consider social media ads as being a more effective strategy for content marketing than conventional ads11.
With over 1.88 Bn daily active users2 Facebook is the largest social networking site in the world3. Globally, the distribution of internet users who use Facebook is very consistent across all socioeconomic levels4. This makes it easier for advertisers to target different income levels. Facebook advertisements are powered by a sophisticated algorithm that continuously creates a better-focused audience for a business5.
Ads on Facebook (and on other Facebook-owned sites like Instagram) have the lowest cost per month on social media6. This and its huge user-base make it the preferred choice of almost 80 million small and medium-sized businesses7. 42% of these companies are located in the suburbs; 33% are urban businesses, and 25% are based in rural areas8. More than one-third of respondents in a survey named Facebook ads as their greatest ROI performer ahead of Google Paid Search7
With 310 million Facebook user accounts, India has by far the most users9. It is closely followed by the USA (190 million) and Indonesia (140 million)9. In 2019, the company’s advertising income was 69.7 billion US dollars10.
Since worldwide usage distribution is not restricted to any one country, Facebook is the ideal platform for enterprises or brands with international expansion plans. On account of its large and geographically diverse user base, Facebook has become the most effective platform to identify a target audience, create an email list, and acquire new clients through advertising.
